Learn English outside the classroom
Hi there,
I'm pretty sure you have tried so many times to learn English when you are out of the class, for example in the pub, or at home. But, you found yourself in trouble trying to understand every single word you hear, or read.. Do not lose hope! Here I give you five tips to learn English when you are not in class and to take the most out of it!
1st - Listen to songs in English
I know that sometimes songs can be frustrating, but do not give up! Listen carefully to the lyrics of the chorus and sing along. It is okay if you do not understand EVERY SINGLE WORD in the song.. no worries! Start easily! Choose a music group that you like and listen to the songs whenever you can (in the car, at home while you wash the dishes, going to work on your phone..) I guarantee to you that in a few days you will discover a new way of understanding the language.

2nd - Use your smartphone
If you are a smartphone addict, as many of us nowadays (IT IS A COMPUTER OF THE SIZE OF YOUR HAND!!! how could we not be!), it would be VERY useful to change the language of the phone to English. I know it sounds too difficult, and scary (what if I can't make it work?), but it is not that bad.. believe me! You can always change it back to your native tongue.
3rd - Use apps in English
Just as you did with the smartphone, change the language of the apps in your phone in English, trust me when I say it is beneficial for your vocabulary to do so. Some apps are easy to use so your main handicap will be the language, and that is exactly what you want. You will be learning new vocabulary without even noticing it!
4th - Watch TV series and films in English
I must admit I am not very fond of this one, to be honest. I always recommend that when you want to watch a TV series or film in English, you watch one that you have already seen. Why? Because I believe that if you watch a new one, one that you don't know what it is about and it has a very complicated plot, you will lose track of the film. If you have to pay attention to the storyline and also to the English language, it will be a nightmare, you will get easily frustrated, and we do not want that! The aim of this activity is to slowly understand words, sentences, even short scenes in English, so we would not use subtitles either. We all know that trying to complete two tasks at the same time it is quite a difficult job. So take it easy and do not use subtitles! You want to see the film, not read the film!
5th - Listen to the international news in English
Are you the one who always listens to the international news on the radio? Great! This one's for you! Why not changing to an English speaking radio channel? You will know the concepts they are referring to since they talk about international issues, and you will improve your English! You only need to find a radio that you like, and you got it!
